Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Crisco oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 bananas, mashed
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, soda, and salt; set aside.
  2. Mix Crisco oil and sugar until well combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition.
  4. Add flour mixture gradually and blend well.
  5. Add mashed bananas and nuts (if using), alternating with buttermilk, and mix gently.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown, approximately 45 minutes.
