Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or oleo
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 pound miniature marshmallows
  • 1/2 pound graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 pound candied pineapple, chopped
  • 1/2 pound candied cherries, chopped
  • 1 1/2 pounds chopped nuts
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/2 pound light raisins

Instructions

  1. Peel onions and slice round.
  2. Sprinkle salt on each slice and place in containers in layers; cover with sweet milk.
  3. Let soak for 2 or 3 hours.
  4. Drain off milk; dip each slice in flour.
  5. Drop the floured slices into hot fat, ensuring the fat is deep enough to cover them.
  6. Fry until golden, handling carefully to prevent tearing.
