Holiday Fruit Squares are sweet, fruity bars with a buttery batter and a layer of cherry, apple, or blueberry filling, perfect for festive gatherings and dessert trays.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 can cherry, apple, or blueberry pie filling
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Gradually add sugar to margarine and beat until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing on low speed.
  3. Add flour and vanilla and mix well.
  4. Pour batter into a greased and floured 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan.
  5. With a knife, mark 20 squares on the batter.
  6. Place one tablespoon of filling in the center of each marked square.
  7. Bake at 350°F until squares spring back when touched.
  8. While warm, sift powdered sugar over the squares and allow to cool.
  9. Cut into squares and serve.
