Ingredients

  • 1 cup oleo (butter), warmed to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Cream butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer.
  2. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt.
  5. Sift the flour and salt mixture into the creamed mixture.
  6. Add chopped nuts to the mixture.
  7. Form into balls about the size of a quarter.
  8. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  9. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 25 to 30 minutes, watching carefully to avoid overbaking.
