Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 1 pint green beans
  • 1/2 small head cabbage, shredded
  • 1 quart canned tomatoes
  • 3 quarts water
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 potatoes, cubed

Instructions

  1. Saute the ground beef in a skillet until browned.
  2. Transfer the cooked beef to a 4-quart kettle.
  3. Add 3 quarts of water to the kettle and cook the meat until tender.
  4. Add potatoes, green beans, canned tomatoes, shredded cabbage, salt, and pepper to the kettle.
  5. Continue cooking for about 1 hour, adding more liquid or vegetables if needed.
