Ingredients

  • 1 lb dry navy beans
  • 2 qt water
  • 1 lb meaty ham bone or ham pieces
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 sprigs celery leaves
  • 6 whole peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients in the crock-pot.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours or on high for 5 to 6 hours.
  3. Remove bones, bay leaf, peppercorns, and celery sprigs before serving.
  4. Taste and adjust salt as needed.
  5. Trim meat from the ham bone and return the cut-up pieces to the soup.
