Hot Applesauce Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 c. hot applesauce
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 lb. nuts
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. shortening
  • 6 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 lb. raisins
  • 3/4 c. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Heat applesauce.
  2. Melt shortening in applesauce; add sugar, dry ingredients, nuts and raisins.
  3. Bake in greased and floured loaf pans at 325° approximately 1 hour.
  4. This is an old-timer's recipe. Keeps well and can be frozen.
