Ingredients

  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup scalded milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup shortening

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk.
  2. Add sugar, warm water, egg, and shortening to the milk. Make sure the shortening is melted and the sugar is dissolved.
  3. When the milk mixture is lukewarm, dissolve the yeast in it.
  4. Combine the sifted flour and salt.
  5. Mix the flour mixture into the milk and yeast mixture.
  6. Mix well until the dough is smooth.
  7. Cover with a damp cloth and let set for 10 to 15 minutes.
