Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup Crisco
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1/8 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 beaten egg

Instructions

  1. Mix boiling water, sugar, Crisco, and salt together and cool to lukewarm.
  2. Soften the cake yeast in lukewarm water.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon sugar to the yeast and stir into the first mixture.
  4. Add beaten egg and stir in 2 cups of flour, then beat thoroughly.
  5. Stir in 1 1/2 cups of flour.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Next morning, make into rolls and let rise about 3 hours.
  8. Bake at 400°F for 15 to 20 minutes.
