- Melt butter and 1 1/4 cups brown sugar together in a skillet until bubbly.
- Prepare the cake mix according to the package directions.
- Cover the bottom of a tuna can with 1 tablespoon of the brown sugar mixture.
- Place a pineapple slice on top of the brown sugar in the can.
- Put a maraschino cherry in the middle of the pineapple slice.
- Optionally, add a few walnuts around the pineapple for added taste.
- Pour 1/2 cup of cake batter on top of the pineapple in the can.
- Bake in a 350°F oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Turn the cake upside down onto a cookie sheet to cool and serve.
