Ingredients

  • 2 avocados, mashed
  • 2 Tbsp. grated onion
  • 1 Tbsp. minced jalapeno pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. jalapeno juice
  • 3 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Place avocado pits in the dip to retain color and spread mayonnaise over the top.
  3. Remove the pits before serving.
  4. Serve immediately with corn chips or tortilla chips.

Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier texture, consider adding a little sour cream or Greek yogurt. If you prefer a milder dip, reduce the amount of jalapeno or replace it with a milder pepper. Fresh lime juice can also brighten the flavor. To enhance the taste, try adding minced garlic or cilantro for an extra layer of freshness.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this guacamole dip immediately with corn chips or tortilla chips for a delightful appetizer. It also pairs beautifully with a Spicy Mango Salad for a refreshing contrast. For a full spread, consider serving alongside Black Bean Salad With Mangoes-Salsa to create a vibrant and satisfying meal.

Storage & Reheating

To store leftovers, place the guacamole in an airtight container and press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to minimize oxidation. It can be refrigerated for up to two days. If the guacamole darkens, just stir it before serving. Reheating is not recommended, as it’s best enjoyed fresh.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this guacamole dip ahead of time?

While guacamole is best served fresh, you can prepare it a few hours in advance. To keep it from browning, store it in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed against the surface. Just give it a good stir before serving to mix in any darkened parts.

What can I substitute for mayonnaise?

If you're looking for a healthier option, consider using Greek yogurt or sour cream as a substitute for mayonnaise. This will add creaminess without the extra calories. For a vegan alternative, you can also try silken tofu blended until smooth.

Is this guacamole dip spicy?

The spiciness of the guacamole dip largely depends on the amount of jalapeno used. If you want to control the heat, start with a smaller quantity and taste as you go. You can also remove the seeds from the jalapeno to reduce the spice level.
