Japanese Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 c. sifted cake flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. sweet milk
  • 1 box raisins
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1/4 lb. candied cherries
  • 6 egg yolks (save egg whites to cover cake)

Instructions

  1. Stir butter to soften.
  2. Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
  3. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each.
  4. Add vanilla. Sift together baking powder, flour and cocoa.
  5. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  6. Blend in raisins and candied cherries.
