Ingredients

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Beat egg yolks until almost thick; gradually beat in 1/4 cup sugar into egg yolks.
  2. Add vanilla to the egg yolk mixture.
  3. Beat egg whites until almost stiff.
  4. Add 1/2 cup sugar to the egg whites and beat until very stiff.
  5. Fold the beaten yolks into the whites gently.
  6. Add sifted flour, salt, and baking powder to the mixture and fold carefully.
  7. Pour the batter into a 10 1/2 x 15-inch pan lined with wax paper.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12 minutes.
