- Beat egg yolks until almost thick; gradually beat in 1/4 cup sugar into egg yolks.
- Add vanilla to the egg yolk mixture.
- Beat egg whites until almost stiff.
- Add 1/2 cup sugar to the egg whites and beat until very stiff.
- Fold the beaten yolks into the whites gently.
- Add sifted flour, salt, and baking powder to the mixture and fold carefully.
- Pour the batter into a 10 1/2 x 15-inch pan lined with wax paper.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12 minutes.
