Ingredients

  • 1 heaping Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/3 cup white Karo syrup
  • 1/2 cup canned milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup nuts

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a heavy skillet.
  2. Add cocoa to the melted butter and stir well.
  3. Add sugar, Karo syrup, and canned milk to the mixture.
  4. Cook slowly, stirring often, until the mixture reaches soft ball stage in cold water.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Add vanilla extract and nuts to the mixture.
  7. Heat briefly until the mixture is glossy and smooth.
  8. Pour into a buttered pan and mark into squares before cooling.
