- Cream Crisco, margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
- Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
- Alternate adding flour and buttermilk, starting and ending with flour and beating well after each addition.
- Add flavoring.
- Add boiling water and beat well.
- Bake in largest size stem pan (one made all together is best) which has been greased and floured.
- Bake in 300° oven for 1 1/4 hours or until golden brown.
