Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 3/4 c. melted butter
  • 60 pieces caramel candy
  • 1/2 c. evaporated milk

Instructions

  1. Combine the cake mix, chopped nuts, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, and melted butter. Mix well.
  2. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9 x 13-inch Pyrex dish.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 8 minutes.
  4. Melt the caramel candies in a double boiler or microwave with 1/2 cup evaporated milk until well mixed.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture over the baked layer.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the caramel layer.
  7. Cover with the remaining cake mixture and press gently to cover the chips.
  8. Bake for 18 minutes at 350°F.
  9. Allow to cool before slicing.
