Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sweet butter
  • 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract or 1 jigger whiskey

Instructions

  1. Beat the butter and powdered sugar together until creamy, about 15 minutes.
  2. Add the egg yolk and vanilla (or almond extract or whiskey) to the mixture.
  3. Gradually add the flour, mixing until the dough is well blended.
  4. Add additional flour gradually until the mixture holds shape and can be formed into crescents or rounds.
  5. Place the shaped cookies on a greased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 to 30 minutes until lightly brown.
  7. Allow the cookies to cool slightly before removing from the pan.
