Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon mace
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter. Add sugar. Add eggs.
  2. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes.
  3. Sift, measure, and sift flour, salt, mace, and baking powder together. Sift again.
  4. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture in 3 installments, beating 1 minute after each addition.
  5. Add lemon juice and beat for 30 seconds.
  6. Pour the batter into the bottom and face of the lamb mold.
  7. Place the mold on a cookie sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 325°F for 1 hour.
  8. Remove from oven and lift the lid off the mold.
  9. Usually done at this point.
