Ingredients

  • 12 oz. cottage cheese
  • 8 oz. lasagna noodles
  • 3/4 lb. ground beef
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1 can water

Instructions

  1. Set out cottage cheese; drain and let stand at room temperature for 20 minutes.
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain well and set aside.
  3. Brown ground beef in a skillet.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Add tomato sauce or tomatoes, water, sauce mix, salt, and pepper; simmer briefly.
  6. Layer sauce over meat in a baking dish.
  7. Spread a thin layer of cottage cheese over the sauce.
  8. Add a layer of cooked lasagna noodles.
  9. Repeat layering with remaining sauce, cottage cheese, and noodles.
  10. Sprinkle grated Romano or Mozzarella cheese on top.
  11. Bake in a 325°F oven for 20 minutes or until bubbly.
