Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter or shortening
  • 6 tablespoons honey
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Cream together sugar and unsalted butter or shortening in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add honey, eggs, and milk and mix well.
  3. Work in dry ingredients with hands, kneading well until smooth.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 parts.
  5. Roll each part out to fit a 10 x 13-inch cookie sheet with no sides, or inverted cookie sheets.
  6. Bake on ungreased sheets at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. Before cooling, run a long knife under it to loosen from the pan.
  8. Cool before serving.
