Lean (But Not Mean) Hot Brown Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups skim milk
  • 1 tablespoon chicken bouillon
  • 6 slices muligrain bread, toasted
  • 1 lb thin sliced turkey
  • 2/3 cup shredded lowfat cheese
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 3 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled

Instructions

  1. Melt margarine in a saucepan.
  2. stir in flour to make a roux.
  3. gradually whisk in milk and boullion.
  4. cook for five minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Remove from heat and set aside.
  6. put toast in a greased 13x9 inch pan.
  7. layer turkey on toast.
  8. spoon on sauce.
  9. add cheese, bacon and tomatoes.
  10. bake on 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
