- In a large bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, active dry yeast, and salt.
- Heat milk, butter, and water until very warm; butter does not need to melt.
- Gradually add the warm mixture to the dry ingredients, beating 2 minutes at medium speed of an electric mixer, scraping the bowl occasionally.
- Add egg yolks and 1/2 cup of the remaining flour.
- Beat 2 minutes at high speed.
- Stir in the remaining flour with a spoon. Cover the bowl.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour or more.
