Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F and prepare a glass loaf pan.
  2. Blend melted butter and 1 cup of sugar until well combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  4. Add almond extract.
  5. Sift together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients, mixing lightly after each addition.
  7. Fold in grated lemon peel and chopped nuts.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. Bake for about 70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool before glazing or serving.
