Ingredients

  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  2. Add lemon juice, grated lemon peel, and melted butter; mix well.
  3. Combine sugar, flour, and salt; add alternately with milk, beating constantly until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into a 1½-quart baking dish.
  7. Set the dish in a pan of hot water to create a water bath.
  8. Bake at 350°F for about 50 to 60 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  9. Serve warm topped with Cool Whip.
