Ingredients

  • 7 to 10 lb. cucumbers, sliced
  • 2 gal. water
  • 2 c. pickling lime
  • 2 qt. vinegar
  • 5 lb. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. whole mustard seed
  • 1 tsp. whole cloves
  • 1 tsp. pickling spice

Instructions

  1. Soak cucumbers in water for 24 hours.
  2. Rinse well.
  3. Soak cucumber slices in ice water for 3 hours and drain.
  4. Mix remaining ingredients; add cucumbers and soak overnight.
  5. Bring mixture to a boil; simmer for 35 minutes.
  6. Pack pickles into jars and seal.
