Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • garlic
  • onion
  • celery
  • 1/2 to 3/4 head shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup water
  • 3 to 4 potatoes, cubed
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef or turkey in a large skillet or pot and drain any excess fat.
  2. Add chopped garlic, diced onion, chopped celery, shredded cabbage, water, and cubed potatoes to the meat.
  3. Season with salt and pepper, then cook until the vegetables are tender and flavors meld, about 30-40 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in about 1 cup of sour cream.
  5. Serve hot, ideally accompanied by salad, rye bread, and butter.
