- preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- mix together shortening, 1 cup sugar, eggs, and sour milk.
- sift together and add baking soda, salt and flour.
- stir in vanilla, apples and nuts.
- mix and pour over top melted butter, 4TBS sugar and cinnamon.
- bake one hour.
