Ingredients

  • 2 yeast
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup lard
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in 1 cup hot water and set aside.
  2. Cool the mixture to lukewarm.
  3. Add the dissolved yeast, 2 eggs, and 1/2 cup lard to the mixture.
  4. Gradually add 7 to 8 cups of flour and mix well.
  5. Let the dough rise until doubled in size.
  6. Knead the dough and let it rise again.
  7. Roll out the dough and cut into longjohn shapes.
  8. Allow the cut donuts to rise slightly.
  9. Deep fry the donuts until golden brown.
  10. Frost with maple-flavored frosting.
