Ingredients

  • 5 lb. potatoes
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 c. heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsp. butter

Instructions

  1. Cook potatoes with 1 teaspoon salt until tender.
  2. Peel potatoes if desired, then drain well.
  3. Mash potatoes with a masher until smooth.
  4. Add cream cheese, 4 tablespoons butter, garlic salt, pepper, and remaining 1 teaspoon salt.
  5. Mix until smooth.
  6. Gradually add heavy cream, mixing until smooth.
  7. Turn the potato mixture into a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  8. Refrigerate overnight or bake immediately.
  9. Dot the top of potatoes with 2 tablespoons butter and paprika.
  10. Bake in a 325°F oven for 30 minutes, then increase oven temperature to 375°F and bake an additional 30 minutes.
