Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground chuck or round
  • 1 or 2 medium onions, chopped
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • dash of garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 5 or 6 medium potatoes, quartered or sliced
  • 1 large can peeled tomatoes

Instructions

  1. In a frying pan, cook the ground chuck or round with chopped onions, salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder until browned.
  2. While the meat is cooking, prepare the potatoes by quartering or slicing them.
  3. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the shortening and cook the potatoes until lightly browned and tender.
  4. Add the peeled tomatoes and paprika to the potatoes and stir well.
  5. Combine the cooked meat and onion mixture with the potato and tomato mixture, simmer for a few minutes to blend flavors.
