Ingredients

  • 2 cups mango slices, half ripe and packed solidly
  • 3 tablespoons oleo (butter flavored Crisco)
  • 2/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter and add bread crumbs.
  2. Place a layer of the buttered bread crumbs in an oiled baking dish.
  3. Add a layer of mango slices.
  4. Sprinkle the fruit with brown sugar and cinnamon, then add another layer of bread crumbs.
  5. Add another layer of mango slices.
  6. Place more bread crumbs on top.
  7. Bake in a moderate oven for about 1 hour or until mangoes are soft.
