Maple Layer Cake

Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream the butter or margarine and sugar.
- Add the maple syrup; stir in the eggs.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ginger and salt.
- Add to the syrup mixture.
- Stir in the hot water, nuts and vanilla; beat well.
- Pour into 2 greased 8 or 9-inch round cake pans.
- Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Let cool in the pans for 10 minutes on wire racks.
- Remove from the pans.
- When cool, frost with Maple Frosting (recipe follows).
- Makes 1 double layer cake.
