Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Whip sugar, cream, and eggs together until well combined.
  2. Add dry ingredients: baking powder, salt, and cake flour; mix until smooth.
  3. Remove 1/2 cup of batter and mix with cocoa, 1 teaspoon sugar, water, and soda to create the chocolate mixture.
  4. Swirl the chocolate mixture into the plain batter to create a marble effect.
  5. Pour the batter into a 9 x 12-inch greased baking pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool completely, then ice with chocolate icing.
