- Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in 2 whole eggs and two egg yolks until well combined.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Sift together cake flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Divide the batter evenly into three greased and floured cake pans.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 25 minutes.
- Remove from oven and cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
