Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in 2 whole eggs and two egg yolks until well combined.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Sift together cake flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Divide the batter evenly into three greased and floured cake pans.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 25 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
