Marinated Mackerel

Marinated mackerel features tender fish infused with aromatic bay leaves, peppercorns, and onions, offering a flavorful appetizer or main dish perfect for seafood lovers and entertaining guests.

Ingredients

  • 1 or 2 large mackerels
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 whole bay leaves
  • 1 Tbsp. whole peppercorns
  • a few slices onions
  • enough water to cover fish in pot

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly clean the fish.
  2. Remove heads and tails.
  3. Cut the fish into slices about 3/4 to 1 inch thick.
  4. Cook the fish in salted water for about 7 to 8 minutes.
  5. Pour the cooked fish into a bowl and do not overcook.
  6. Cover the fish with the water it was cooked in.
  7. Add sliced onions, whole peppercorns, and bay leaves.
  8. Let sit for a couple of hours.
  9. Serve as an appetizer or main dish.
