- Cover the bottom of a dish or pan with tamara sauce and add 1 or 2 tablespoons of water, depending on the amount of tofu and pan size.
- Add the spices: thyme, basil, cayenne, onion and garlic powder.
- Place the sliced tofu in the marinade for 10 to 15 minutes, turning occasionally to coat evenly.
- Heat a small amount of oil in a skillet, covering the bottom.
- Sauté the tofu over medium heat until browned on both sides.
- For a savory sauce, add a little water and the remaining marinade to the skillet, heat, and serve over the tofu or accompanying food.
- For a more robust flavor, optionally add chili powder, parsley flakes, canola, soy or olive oil, paprika, oregano, or lemon juice.
