- Combine cake mix, cherry jello, salad oil, and eggs in a large bowl.
- Mix by hand until well blended.
- Drain the crushed pineapple and save the juice.
- Fold the pineapple into the cake batter.
- Pour the batter into a greased and floured pan.
- Bake at 275°F for 15 minutes, then increase oven temperature to 335°F and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
- Remove the cake from the oven and pour the reserved pineapple juice over the top.
- Chill the cake for 1 hour.
- Spread Cool Whip over the top and spoon cherry pie filling on top before serving.
