Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • dash of salt
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 baked pie shell

  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer on the stove and stir until thickened.
  3. Stir in margarine and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Pour the custard into an 8-inch baked pie shell.
  5. Beat the reserved egg whites until stiff peaks form to make the meringue.
  6. Spread the meringue over the pie filling.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) until the meringue is golden brown, about 5 to 8 minutes.
