Ingredients

  • 6 eggs
  • 1 c. Crisco oil
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. cake flour

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and Crisco oil together.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the flour mixture and milk alternately to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the flour.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Pour 4 tablespoons of batter into each prepared cake pan.
  7. Bake just until the layers are dry but not browned.
  8. Allow layers to cool before icing with Chocolate Icing.
