Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 packets yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup cooked pumpkin

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, yeast, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves in a bowl.
  2. In a saucepan, heat milk, butter, brown sugar, and salt until warm; stir constantly.
  3. Add the warm mixture to the dry ingredients and stir in the cooked pumpkin.
  4. Beat the mixture well until combined.
  5. Add the remaining flour gradually to form a moderately stiff dough.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic (about 5 to 8 minutes).
  7. Shape the dough into a ball and place into a lightly greased bowl, turning once to coat.
  8. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  9. Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf.
