Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 large can evaporated milk
  • 3 (6 oz.) packages chocolate chips
  • 1 lb. butter
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and evaporated milk in a saucepan; bring to a boil and continue boiling for 8 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat; add chocolate chips, butter, and vanilla.
  3. Beat with an electric mixer until the mixture is thick and creamy.
  4. Add nuts if desired.
