Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups Swans Down cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Cream together the margarine, Crisco, and sugar.
  2. Add baking powder, vanilla, and eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Add milk and flour alternately, beating well each time. The batter will be very thick like whipped cream.
  4. Grease and flour a large tube pan.
  5. Place the batter in the prepared pan and place it in a cold oven.
  6. Turn the oven to 350°F.
  7. Bake for 1 1/2 hours. Do not open the oven during baking.
