Ingredients

  • 2 large turnips, peeled and cut in chunks
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cook turnips, covered, in a small amount of boiling salted water for 10 minutes.
  2. Add potatoes and onion to the pot and cook until all vegetables are tender.
  3. Drain well to remove excess water.
  4. Mash vegetables with butter, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  5. Adjust seasonings to taste and serve hot.
