Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 egg whites

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients and water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick and clear.
  2. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form, gradually adding 4 tablespoons sugar and beating well.
  3. Slowly add the cooled cooked cornstarch mixture to the egg whites, beating until stiff glossy peaks form.
  4. Spread the meringue evenly to the edge of the pie crust to seal all around.
  5. Bake in a 350°F oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the meringue is golden.
