A smoky mesquite turkey infused with aromatic vegetables and seasoned with Mrs. Dash, perfect for outdoor grilling and special holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. turkey
  • 1 onion
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 tsp. Mrs. Dash

Instructions

  1. Place wet mesquite wood chips in a disposable aluminum pie pan on coals on one side of the bottom of the outdoor grill, with the grid removed so the pan sits directly on the coals.
  2. Keep the wood chips wet at all times to ensure it smokes.
  3. Quarter the onion and carrots and place them inside the cavity of the turkey.
  4. Sprinkle Mrs. Dash seasoning inside the cavity of the turkey.
  5. Put the turkey in an oblong pan on top of the grill, positioned to one side.
  6. Turn both burners on high for 15 minutes to start the cooking process.
  7. Turn the burner under the larger part of the turkey to low and the other burner to medium, then cook for about 4 hours or until the turkey is done.
