Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups walnuts, chopped
  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  1. Spread walnuts in a pie plate.
  2. Microwave uncovered on High 6 to 7 minutes.
  3. Melt butter in a 2 1/2 to 3-quart bowl.
  4. Stir in brown sugar and sweetened condensed milk until blended.
  5. Microwave uncovered on High 12 minutes, stirring 4 times, until mixture has thickened and is a caramel color.
  6. Remove bowl; add vanilla.
  7. Beat with mixer 3 to 4 minutes until smooth and shiny.
  8. Add walnuts and beat on low speed 1 minute.
  9. Spread in greased 8-inch pan.
  10. Cool, then cover and refrigerate until firm, 2 to 3 hours.
