Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Rub in the butter or margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add milk all at once and stir with a fork until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured board and knead a few times.
  5. Roll out the dough thinly and line a baking dish or casserole with half of it.
  6. Thinly slice the apples and mix with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a few drops of lemon juice.
  7. Place the apple mixture into the lined dish.
  8. Cover with the remaining pastry and pinch the crust together to seal.
