Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. whole bran cereal
  • 1 c. skim milk
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/3 c. molasses
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
  • 2 Tbsp. toasted wheat germ
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine bran and milk; let stand for 3 minutes.
  2. Stir in egg, molasses and butter or margarine; set aside.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, wheat germ, baking powder and baking soda.
  4. Make a well in the center.
  5. Add bran mixture; stir until moistened.
  6. Fold in raisins and nuts.
