Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 pound raw Valencia peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Boil sugar, water, and corn syrup until it threads.
  2. Add butter and peanuts; cook slowly to 300°F, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add soda and vanilla; it will foam up.
  4. Turn out onto a buttered baking sheet.
  5. Pull out thin as it cools.
  6. When cold, break into pieces with a knife handle.
