Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup currants
  • 2 tbsp buttermilk
  • 1 3/4 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, sugar and currants. Stir in buttermilk until just combined. Transfer to a floured work surface and knead until combined. Shape into 12 balls. Cut an "X" in the top of each bun. Brush tops with butter then bake for 12-15 mins, or until golden brown.
